Traditional Chinese Medicine Therapies
At Chuan, our Traditional Chinese Medicine Therapies will include a Traditional Chinese Medicine practitioner who will complete an evaluation on each guest, and based upon that analysis, the guest will receive a prescription. A prescription may include massage using elemental oil therapy and acupressure, acupuncture, herbal medicine, or cupping.
A heated moxa stick (similar to the size and shape of a cigar) is used to enhance the benefits of acupuncture if additional meridian work is needed.
Ho Guan (Cupping) is an ancient Chinese practice in which a heated cup is applied to the skin and the pressure inside this cup has a therapeutic effect on the skin and superficial muscle layer just below the skin. Cupping is applied to certain acupressure points, as well as regions of the body that are affected by pain. It restores energy balance using heat in a cup to create suction on the skin. Temporary marks may be left on the skin from this therapeutic treatment.
Acupuncture is a form of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) that has been practiced for thousands of years to promote healing and well-being. According to TCM philosophy, our health depends upon the body’s circulating energy (Qi) through a network of meridians (channels) and collaterals beneath the skin. By inserting fine needles into these channels of energy, it can stimulate the body’s own healing response and help restore its natural balance.
