![]() Chinese medical practitioners use cultural beliefs to interpret the state of well being. Any disharmony of the equilibrium of yin and yang or disturbance of their flow can cause imbalance. The task of a Chinese Doctor is to restore such imbalance. Treatments include herbal medicine, acupuncture, moxibustion, massage, breathing exercise and diet. The aim is to supplement the deficiency of either yin or yang or to reduce the excess. The holistic approach of Chinese Medicine is to treat the body as a whole and address any imbalance.
Acupuncture is a form of therapy used within the coherent system of healing in China for thousands of years. Its focus is on improving the overall wellbeing of the patient, in addition to treating specific symptoms. According to Traditional Chinese philosophy, our health depends on the body’s circulating energy – known as Qi – moving in a smooth and balanced way through a network of meridians (channels) and collaterals beneath the skin. By inserting fine needles into the channels of energy, it can stimulate the body’s own healing response and help restore its natural balance. Each acupuncture treatment session includes time for intake history, needle placement and needle dwell time. 25 minute and 40 minute treatments are available based upon need and client preference. Chuan Body + Soul’s Traditional Chinese Medical (TCM) treatment session includes a consultation by a qualified TCM Practitioner to interpret your states of well being and relative treatment(s) will be prescribed. Prescribed treatment(s) may include: 25 minutes $200 40 minutes $275 A simple, effective way to reduce fatigue induced by travel and disruption of our natural circadian rhythm. 25 minutes $200 40 minutes $275 Meridian and auriculo (ear) therapy points help diminish the desire to smoke. The treatment helps to reduce stress and promote inner calm. Ear seeds may be added to the treatment for a $10 additional fee. 25 minutes $200 40 minutes $275 The desire to eat certain foods and to eat when one is not truly hungry can be addressed by the use of standard acupuncture points. Ear seeds may be added to the treatment for a $10 additional fee. 25 minutes $200 40 minutes $275 Stress is ever present in our harried lives. Acupuncture is an excellent modality to alleviate the effects of internal and external stressors. 25 minutes $200 40 minutes $275 Many of us have tense neck or low back muscles due to poor posture, long work hours and hectic lives. Acupuncture techniques complement the effect of massage on tense muscles. EXTRA ADD-ON To complement your acupuncture treatment, we recommend the following: Pairs of acupuncture needles are attached to a device that generates continuous electric pulses between them. This practice can restore health and well-being, and is particularly good for treating pain.
The light tapping of an area on the body to move stagnant energy or to calm the mind.
Ancient Chinese practice in which a heated cup is applied to the skin and the pressure in the cup has therapeutic effect on the skin and superficial muscle layer.
To help strengthen the blood and stimulate the flow of Qi. The practitioner will light one end of a Moxa stick and hold it close to an acupressure point for several minutes to bring about a pleasant heat sensation penetrating deep into the skin to facilitate healing.
While ear points are often stimulated with needles in an acupuncture clinic, studies have shown to place a small seed on an ear point can achieve even greater results because the seed produces continuous stimulation.
Moist heat is used on specific areas of tension to help smooth the flow of energy in the body.
